PARKS in PRAGUE
VÍTKOV PARK: From the hostel terrace it is really easy to access to „ Vítkov Hill “ where is placed the National Monument with giant statue of Jan Žižka on horseback (by B.Kafka, it is the largest equestrian statue in the Europe ).The park situated on this hill is a favorite place of many Praguers.It is great place for relax or you can easily ride a bike or do a lot of sports activities there.There is also a muzeum of Czech Republic with a panaromatic cafeteria.During the communist era it was used to be a mauzoleum there – after the fashion of Russian dictator Lenin, the embalming body of the first communist prezident K.Gottwald was placed there.
KAMPA PARK: This park is situated in the city center, close to Charles Bridge.There is the old waterwheel once used to power mills called Certovka. In Kampa park is also a museum ,which has a great collection of modern Central European art.You can also find a famous John Lennon wall there.
LETNÁ PARK: Here used to be a famous huge statue of the infamous dictator Stalin ( destroyed 1962). Later was on this place put a huge statue of Metronome ( built 1991 ).This park is also a paradise to skate boarders who daily take over the former monuments.From the Metronome you can enjoy amazing view over Prague with Vltava river.Plus, here is a popular beer garden with a beautiful view over Prague, or you can ask for beer in a plastic cap and enjoy it while walking through park or on some of plenty benches.
STROMOVKA PARK: Visit a lovely old dear-park full of trees which gave the park its name – Stromovka („place of trees“).The exit from the park is near the famous Prague ZOO. You can also visit Planetarium there...
VYŠEHRAD PARK: Vysehrad is a magic park with monuments sculpture and amazing view. You can find there old big cathedral, cemetery with beautifull memorials of famous Czech celebrity and popular beer garden.It is a truly romantic place.
RIEGROVY SADY: Located in Prague’s lovely Vinohrady neighborhood, 10 minutes walk from the hostel. It is home to a large beer garden that’s popular with Czechs and expats alike. The pub offers fantastic beer and a big screen TV that shows sporting events daily.
